1. What is Octopus Mobile Payment Service?
Octopus Mobile Payment Service is the mobile payment service enabled by a NFC SIM card incorporated with Octopus function when operated with NFC (Near Field Communication) enabled mobile phone as tested by Octopus Cards Limited.
2. How to apply Octopus Mobile Payment Service? What is the service lead time?
If you would like enjoy the Octopus Mobile Payment Service, you will need a NFC SIM (Octopus). During the promotion period, a new customer who buys either one of the handset models below and subscribes to any tariff plan of PCCW-HKT mobile service will be entitled to get a NFC SIM (Octopus):
- Sony Xperia Z1,
- Sony Xperia Z Ultra 3G,
- Sony Xperia Z Ultra LTE,
- Sony Xperia ZR,
- Sony Xperia Z and
- Sony Xperia V
3. Is the use of Octopus function on the NFC SIM (Octopus) subject to the "Conditions of Issue of Octopus" published by Octopus Cards Limited?
Yes, it is. The NFC SIM (Octopus), namely Octopus Mobile SIM, is issued subject to the "Conditions of Issue of Octopus" published by Octopus Cards Limited, as may be amended from time to time. The "Conditions of Issue of Octopus" is downloadable from Octopus Cards Limited’s website at www.octopus.com.hk, dispatched or displayed at designated transport stations. Use of the Octopus function on the Octopus Mobile SIM is subject to the "Conditions of Issue of Octopus".
4. If the value on my NFC SIM (Octopus) is zero or negative, can I still use Octopus payment function?
If the value on your NFC SIM (Octopus) is zero or negative, Octopus payment function on this NFC SIM (Octopus) cannot be used until it is reloaded.
5. How to use the Octopus Mobile Payment Service?
a. Insert the NFC SIM (Octopus) into your Octopus tested and NFC-enabled mobile phone.
b. Turn on the NFC function on your mobile phone so that the Octopus Function on the NFC SIM (Octopus) can be performed.
c. Ensure sufficient battery power of your mobile phone throughout the use of the Octopus function, in particular, entrance and exit points on payment gate for the whole journey on public transportation and fare ticket inspection.
d. Ensure the battery and handset cover of your mobile phone produced by original handset manufacturer.
e. Place your mobile phone steadily over an Octopus reader, hold and wait until you hear a "Dood" sound and there is an indication that the transaction is completed and the remaining value is shown on the screen before removing your mobile phone. (No activation and further steps are required. As NFC SIM (Octopus) has no initial stored value, please add value before use.)
6. Can I register two or more Octopus number on one single NFC SIM card?
No.
7. Can I use one single Octopus number on two different NFC SIMs?
No.
8. Can I use one single Octopus number on two different NFC devices?
You can use Octopus Mobile Payment service by inserting your NFC SIM (Octopus) to another NFC-enabled mobile phone that tested by Octopus.
9. Will use of NFC incur any extra charges?
No.
10. Will the Octopus function on the NFC SIM (Octopus) be affected if I change my Handset model?
If your new Handset model as one of the tested models by Octopus Cards Limited, you can just insert your NFC SIM (Octopus) to continue using Octopus Mobile Payment Service.
If your new Handset model is not one of the tested models by Octopus Cards Limited, you cannot continue using Octopus Mobile Payment Service.
11. If I lost my NFC SIM (Octopus), what should I do?
For mobile telecommunication function on the NFC SIM (Octopus) - please immediately suspend your mobile services via our 24-hour PCCW Consumer Service Hotline on 1000. We will then send a normal SIM for replacement to you by mail. If you wish to replace a NFC SIM (Octopus), you need to arrange it at our PCCW-HKT Shop and pay a Replacement Fee of HK$100 for NFC SIM (Octopus).
For Octopus function on the NFC SIM (Octopus) - If your NFC SIM (Octopus) is linked to Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS), Octopus Cards Limited provide Lost Octopus Reporting Service. To report loss, please call Lost Octopus Reporting Hotline 2266 2266.
12. I lost my NFC SIM (Octopus), could you suspend my payment immediately?
No.
If your NFC SIM (Octopus) is linked to Automatic Add Value Service (AAVS), Octopus Cards Limited provide Lost Octopus Reporting Service. To report loss, please call Lost Octopus Reporting Hotline 2266 2266.
